Website Contact Person: Dennis van der Avoort Phone: 31-6-2888 5668 Description: Tourism in Serbia is in constant development. Besides interesting cities, numerous festivals and a rich cultural heritage, this destination offers many opportunities for the active traveler and nature lover. During the last year many new hotels have been opened in Belgrade and Novi Sad, which makes those cities more and more attractive as a destination for a city break. Also at the country side, new accommodations are popping up like mushrooms out of the ground. The cultural heritage and unspoiled nature of Serbia are getting more and more accessible by the development of different touristic routes, among them different cultural trails along the medieval and Roman heritage of Serbia and the fully signposted Danube cycling trail. The accessibility of Serbia has also greatly improved. The national airline JAT offers daily flights from Amsterdam to Belgrade. Price fighter Wizzair will start flying from Eindhoven to Belgrade starting in April 2011, and is herewith the first low-cost carrier to Serbia flying from the Benelux. Nowadays tourists don’t need passports anymore and can travel to Serbia holding only an identity card. Visitor numbers from the Netherlands have experienced a significant increase during the first part 2010. Several tour operators have already included Serbia in their offer and also individual travelers are finding their way to Serbia. The expectation is that this trend will continue. |
