Paris continues to be in the top three leading capitals for contemporary art. The large number of art fairs, galleries and important exhibitions in museums goes hand-in-hand with remarkable private initiatives.
Like the new private art centre, the Rosenblum collection and Friends, in Paris’s 13th arrondissement. The idea behind the project of Steve and Chiara Rosenblum, a couple of young collectors was simply to showcase the things they had collected through temporary exhibitions and by appointment. Installed in an old photography laboratory, the venue extends over 1,500 m2 and also offers the possibility to relax in a living-room with a library, a video library, a dining table, computers, etc. Firstly fans of African art, the Rosenblum became interested in current artists five years ago, centring their collection around works symbolizing the post September 11 era. During the visit, it is the collectors themselves who provide commentaries on the photographs, videos, paintings, sculptures and installations.
