The famous monument in the Place de l’Étoile, which dominates the Champs-Élysées has undergone major restoration work in 2010.

Last June the monument’s four largest bas-reliefs where once again revealed to the public in all their splendour: Le Départ des volontaires de 1792 (also known as “La Marseillaise”) by François Rude, Le Triomphe de Napoléon de 1810 by Jean-Pierre Cortot, La République or La Résistance de 1814 and La Paix de 1815 by Antoine Etex. Weathered by time, these historic works have regained their original colour and their exceptional form. The end of the year sees the final stage of renovation work with the redesign of the reception areas and the shop, which will give its one and a half million annual visitors a contemporary refurbished setting.
