Three-time Grammy Award winner and one of the most prominent jazz musicians of today Dee Dee Bridgewater will give her first concert in Croatia on March 8 this year. Presenting To Billie with Love – A celebration of Lady Day concert Dee Dee will perform songs from her latest album dedicated to the legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday. ‘With this album I pay my respects to the vocal that enabled musicians like me to build a singing career’, explained Bridgewater. This year she won a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.

Dee Dee Bridgewater is crème de la crème of the female jazz scene and often mentioned as great Ella Fitzgerald’s successor. She is regarded as a multitalented musician equally convincing in theatrical performances, jazz standards, French chansons or musical adaptations of African native songs. The musical talent of this extraordinary artist has caught the eye of many music critics including the Mercury News magazine which compliments her on the extraordinary talent with the following words: ‘Let Dee Dee, the most charismatic and accomplished jazz vocalist of today, completely convey and revive the music composed by a brilliant composer. Her incredible album ˝This is new˝ is an instant hit leaving others far behind’. The prominent New York Times wrote: ‘Almost everything she does is filled with imaginative and seductive humor...’

Her albums are regarded highly and often ranked among the very best of jazz. The album “Dear Ella” (1997), a tribute to the famous Ella Fitzgerald, won two Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Vocal Album and Best Arrangement for Vocal, while albums “Live in Paris” (1987), “Live at Yoshy''s” (2000), “J''ai Deux Amours” (2005) and “Red Earth” (2007) won her nominations. Her latest album “Eleonora Fagan (1915-1959): To Billie With Love From Dee Dee” came out last year immediately setting a new standard when it comes to emotional jazz interpretation, confirming once more Dee Dee’s status as one of the leading jazz vocalists of today. All tracks on the album are characterized by sensitive and refined interpretation, convincing and suggestive, delivering a high level of aesthetic experience.
