That represents an improvement of 2.7 percent compared with the previous year (3.4 litres), putting airberlin more than one percent above the annual improvement of 1.5 percent that is required by IATA. Altogether last year, airberlin saved about 70,000 tonnes of CO2 thanks to this fuel reduction. That is the equivalent of about 4,700 flights from Munich to Palma de Mallorca. In the medium term, Germany’s second largest airline wants to cut its fuel consumption to 3 litres per
100 PKM.
