Hermès, the famous brand of the master saddler which exemplifies taste and know-how à la française, opened its firs  boutique on the Left Bank.

After its shops on rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré and avenue George-V, it is the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district that the company has chosen for its new address, a few steps from the Bon Marché department store and the hotel Lutétia. What’s more the setting is no other than the hotel’s former swimming pool, built in 1935 in pure art nouveau style and listed as a historic monument: 1,400 m2 in which to showcase the entire brand. As well as the famous Hermès silk scarves, women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, leather goods (under the direction of Christophe Lemaire), time pieces and jewellery, the visitor is invited to discover the entire brand: its professions, history and know-how. The boutique also offers other amenities: the services of a flower workshop, a bookshop “Chaîne d’encre”, and a tea room “Le Plongeoir”. The setting features spectacular architecture. Three glass roofs allow natural daylight to enter the space, a mosaic in shades of grey and green with inclusions of gold and silver covers the floor of the former swimming pool; a wonderful wood and granite staircase connects the two levels; and the lower ground floor features cone shaped sculpture-cabins.
