February begins elegantly with the 8th Valencia Fashion Week: between 2nd and 4th, the city will come attractive showcase for international fashion. Whilst the first of this season’s Formula One practice session will take place between 1st and 3rd, the 8th will see the start of the 33rd America's Cup (www.americascup.com ) between the American BMW Oracle team and the Switzerland’s Alinghi and which will create an atmosphere of sporting fair play throughout the city’s Royal Marina and beaches.
February 13th is a day set aside for music lovers, as the 3rd edition of MTV Winter (www.mtv.es ) will include a performance by the British group Arctic Monkeys in the unique City of Arts and Sciences. Between 10th and 21st February, and under the slogan "Reality and Fiction", the VEO Festival will celebrate its 8th edition. The event allows young artists to create their own productions that explore the creative process and create new theatrical languages.
The 14th Flamenco Festival will take place on 30 and 31 January and 14 and 19 February at the Palau de la Música. Diego el Cigala (“the Crayfish”), with his flamenco ancestry and darkly sombre voice, will open the flamenco festival with a concert full of surprises and dedicated to the general public.The month will finish celebrating the 30th edition of the Popular Marathon of Valencia on February 21 and hosting the 46th edition of the Absolute Spain Indoor Championship in Valencia that will be celebrated on the 27th and 28th of February (www.rfea.es ).
One again Valencia is immersed in the preparations for its most international festivity: “las Fallas”. From 15th to 19th March, the city is transformed into an explosion of colours, aromas, magic and joy. Spring is about to begin and the city’s festivities extend their warmest welcome.
