2010 was an historic year for the city of Cape Town and Cape Town Tourism. As an organisation, we celebrated numerous successes and learned valuable lessons.
We’ll never forget 2010 and all that it brought, but we’re gearing up for what is sure to be a busy and fun-filled 2011.
This year we will be focusing on exploring new tourism markets, improving our use of technology, and continuing to capitalise on online marketing. We’ll also be encouraging event organisers to plan events during Cape Town’s winter months in order to attract visitors, and we’ll be committed to enhancing Cape Town Tourism’s status as a private-public partnership dedicated to the future of tourism in the Mother City.
We’ll also be focusing on Brand Cape Town and on developing a key identity for the city. Accordingly, we are proud to be a partner of the 2014 World Design Capital bid and actively support the campaign for Table Mountain to be crowned one of the New7Wonders of Nature. We believe that these two accolades will enhance Cape Town’s position as a creative city in a pristine natural setting.
Dozens of events are also scheduled for the year ahead. In February alone, the city will welcome U2 (who’ll perform at Cape Town Stadium) and will host Infecting the City public arts festival and Cape Town Pride.
2010 marked a phenomenal year, and it can only get better in 2011!
